Groot is a superhero who appears in the Marvel Universe published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Stan Lee, penciler Jack Kirby, and inker Dick Ayers, the fictional character first appeared in the comic book Tales to Astonish (vol. 1) #13 in November 1960.
