Here we have Ron holding his rat Scabbers. Scabbers is a rather useless old rat and Ron pretends to hate him, but he is secretly very fond of the rat. Scabbers once belonged to Percy, Ron's older brother. Although the Early Years shopping list only lists cats, owls, and toads as allowed pets, Ron seems to have no problem bringing it with him to Hogwarts.
