Aragog is a male acromentula with glassy eyes and graying hair on his back and legs, capable of speaking like a human. This enormous spider was brought to Hogwarts by Hagrid while the latter was still a student at the school. Hidden in a school dungeon by Hagrid, Aragog is put in danger by Tom Riddle who accuses Hagrid of having opened the Chamber of Secrets and tries to catch the acromentula
to have her accused. Thanks to Hagrid, Aragog manages to escape and takes refuge in the Forbidden Forest. Considered the monster of the Chamber of Secrets, Aragog remains
holed up in the forest. Subsequently, Hagrid brings company: a female acromentula named Mosag with whom he starts his family.
Harry and Ron meet him in the opus “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”.
The acromentula, out of respect for Hagrid, has never touched a human, however he offers the two boys as a meal to his daughters and sons. The two young wizards manage to escape
barely. Aragog makes his appearance again in the “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” section.
Aragog died in the spring of 1993 following an illness. Upon his death, the rest of his family became violent and, driven out of the Forbidden Forest by Voldemort, attacked Hogwarts during the
Great Battle, falling on the Death Eaters as well as on the students of the school.
