Hermione Granger (Yule Ball)

Hermione Jean Granger is one of the main characters in the Harry Potter saga written by J. K. Rowling. Hermione is the best friend of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley and resides in Gryffindor House during her schooling at Hogwarts.

In the films, her role is played by Emma Watson.

Hermione is a "Muggle-born." The young girl first appears on the Hogwarts Express where she meets Ron Weasley and Harry Potter to ask them if they have seen Neville Longbottom's toad. Listening to her, Harry quickly realizes that she is very knowledgeable and has evidently read all the books on wizardry accessible to her. At Hogwarts, she is always the first to answer in class and regularly tries to prevent Harry and Ron from breaking the rules, which earns her their antipathy — especially Ron's. Later, after being saved from a troll by the two boys, she helps them with their homework and lessons and becomes less ascetic. Little by little, a true friendship develops between Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

During a Quidditch match, Hermione discreetly sets fire to Professor Snape's cloak, whom she wrongly suspects of jinxing Harry's broom to make him fall. With Ron, she helps Harry overcome obstacles to find the Philosopher's Stone. During the awarding of the House Cup, Professor Dumbledore rewards her with 50 points for solving Snape's potions riddle, which had been designed to prevent anyone — and especially Voldemort — from acquiring the stone.
