Belle is the heroine of the animated feature film Beauty and the Beast (1991). Daughter of the inventor Maurice, Belle is a young woman with a free spirit and a love of literature. To save her father, she agrees to be a prisoner in the castle of a prince transformed into a hideous creature for his cruelty, whose hidden goodness she gradually detects.
